- Copy summary to copy the totals, or Reset to clear the text and result.
Limits and support
Requires a browser with Intl.Segmenter and TextEncoder. Characters use Unicode grapheme clusters. Whitespace-only clusters (including spaces, tabs and line breaks) are excluded from the second total, using JavaScript whitespace rules. Words count only browser isWordLike segments for English; this is not a linguistic analysis and totals can vary with browser Unicode data. Empty text has 0 lines; LF, CRLF and CR each end a line, including a final empty line after a trailing break. The textarea normalizes pasted line endings to LF. UTF-8 bytes encode the exact textarea value without Unicode normalization. Available device memory can limit very large input.
Questions
How are emoji and accented characters counted?
A combined emoji or an accented letter is counted as one grapheme cluster when the browser segmenter groups it that way. Composed and decomposed accents can have different UTF-8 byte totals.
Is my text stored or copied?
Text stays in this page. It is not uploaded, logged or saved in browser storage. Copy summary copies only the five totals. Reset or leaving the page clears the page-owned text and result.
